Nigerian Travel Creator Alma Asinobi Launches Ambitious Guinness World Record Attempt to Visit All Seven Continents in 60 Hours

Nigerian travel influencer Alma Asinobi is embarking on a bold quest to set a new Guinness World Record: the fastest time to visit all seven continents. The 26-year-old globetrotter, whose journey was initially scheduled to begin earlier, delayed her takeoff due to unforeseen circumstances but has now started the race against the clock—and history.

A Record Attempt That Goes Beyond Speed

Alma’s mission, aptly dubbed #AlmaChasingContinents, is not just about claiming a world record. It’s a statement about breaking barriers—particularly those faced by travelers with low-mobility passports like Nigeria’s. Having now kicked off her journey in Antarctica, Alma is racing across the globe, touching down in cities (not just airports) across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania, all within a bold 60-hour target.

If successful, Alma will beat the current record of 64 hours set by American Johnny Buckingham in February 2025. Originally aiming for a 70-hour completion, she revised her plan in response to Buckingham’s new benchmark—an adjustment reflecting her grit and competitive spirit.

“This journey is bigger than me,” Alma told Techpoint Africa. “It’s about showing the world what’s possible when African women and others with limited travel access dare to dream.”

Documenting the Dream, One Continent at a Time

The Guinness World Records guidelines are clear: timestamped evidence of her presence in each continent’s cities is required. Alma is relying on a mix of portable cameras, GPS apps, and social media check-ins to ensure every leg of her journey is verifiable.

The physical and mental toll of this challenge is not lost on her. After months of training and a recent wellness check with therapists on March 6, Alma is in peak condition. Starting in Antarctica—where she looks forward to seeing penguins—and finishing in Australia, she’ll have to battle unpredictable weather, tight flight schedules, and the limitations of a Nigerian passport, ranked among the least mobile globally by Henley & Partners.

An Influencer With a Purpose

Alma is no stranger to the spotlight. Since launching her travel content career in 2020, she has grown a following of over 200,000 across platforms and worked with global brands like Sony and Mastercard. She was recently named one of List NG’s Top 100 Most Influential Nigerians in 2024—the youngest and only Black solo traveler attempting this particular record.

Her story resonates deeply in Nigeria and beyond, especially in a moment when record-breaking fever is sweeping the region. According to Nicholas Brookes of Guinness World Records, over 7,000 applications have come from West Africa since 2023.

Whether Alma ultimately claims the title or not, her journey is already a victory—an emblem of resilience, creativity, and the limitless possibilities that await when passion meets purpose.

With the world watching and cheering through the hashtag #7in60, Alma Asinobi is poised to show that borders are no match for ambition… and yes! The Agora Team is rooting for Alma!
